Irina Subotić

Irina Subotić (Belgrade 1941) is an art historian, professor emeritus; teaching postgraduate studies at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad and University of Arts in Belgrade. Was curator at the Museum of Modern art and National Museum in Belgrade. Ph.D. Visual Circle of the review Zenit  1921-1926  supported in  Ljubljana.
Particular field of research: Yugoslav avant-garde of the 1920s in the European context.  Interests:  new museology,  XXth century art, local and European heritage protection.
Major works: Leonid Šejka 1972; Zenit and the avant-garde of the 1920s,  1983; Lisette e Evsa Model: “New York City“, 1984; Vladimir Veličković 1986,1988; The Experiences from Memory, 1994-1995 (with G. Membership in professional organizations (MDS, DIUS, UKPS, AICA, ICOM, Europa Nostra). Participated to international projects in Zagreb, Paris, Dusseldorf, Moscow, Krakow, Lodz, Prague, Poznan,  Miami, Budapest, Thessalonica, Tokyo, Ljubljana, Sarajevo, Marseille, Milan, New Delhi, Mexico, Venice, Rome, Bucarest, Sofia, The Hague etc.
Awared for art criticism 1993, for exhibitions on modern art  1995/6. i 2000/01; Pavle Vasić 2005, American Institute for Theatre Technologies 2006;  Chevalier dans l'ordre des Arts et des Lettres by French Government 2008; Zenit 1921-1926 (with V. Golubović and reprint), 2008 proclaimed the Edition of the Year, awarded by the Association of Librerians of Serbia, Pavle Vasić, the best edition at the International Book Fair (Herceg Novi) and the best design (Grifon award).
